Questions

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers for teams evaluating Moneybag, preparing onboarding documents, building an integration, or running payment operations.

Getting Started

What is Moneybag?

Moneybag is a Bangladeshi payment gateway. Merchants accept online payments in Bangladeshi Taka from cards and mobile wallets, and track transactions and settlement in the merchant dashboard or through the API.

Do I need to build an integration?

Not always. You can take payments through the hosted checkout, through payment invoices, or through your payment link. Each merchant has one payment link — one per account, not a set of links.

How long does integration usually take?

It depends on your checkout flow and your own release process. Build against the sandbox and the API documentation first, then switch to live keys.

Can I test before going live?

Yes. The sandbox lets you create payment sessions and run payments through the hosted checkout without moving real money.

Onboarding and Approval

What documents are required?

Business registration details, tax information, ownership details, identity documents for the authorised representative, website or app details, bank account information, and a description of what you sell.

How long does approval take?

Moneybag does not publish a fixed approval time. Review depends on how complete your documents are, your business type, whether your website or app is ready to review, and checks by our banking and payment partners.

Payments and Settlement

Which payment methods can I accept?

Cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, UnionPay, Diners Club, and DBBL Nexus. Mobile wallets: bKash, Nagad, Rocket, upay, and tap. There is no bank transfer or internet banking method.

Can I accept payments in other currencies?

No. Moneybag processes in Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) only.

When do I get paid?

Settlement runs on the cycle agreed in your merchant agreement. Each settlement is released manually by Moneybag operations, so bank holidays, bank cutoffs, and any open review or hold on your account can move it to the later end.

Do you support EMI?

Yes. EMI is available for up to 36 months on supported issuing banks.

Why did a payment fail?

Common reasons are issuer decline, insufficient funds, incorrect card details, an expired card, authentication failure, risk checks, payment method limits, or the payment method being unavailable.

Fees, Refunds, and Chargebacks

What do you charge?

A percentage of each successful transaction, set by the payment method. The published rate card is at /pricing/. There is no setup fee, no monthly fee, and no annual fee. The rates that apply to you are the ones in your merchant agreement.

Can I issue a refund myself?

No. Moneybag has no refund feature in the dashboard or the API. If you need to return funds to a customer, contact Moneybag support with the transaction details.

Can I issue a partial refund?

No. Neither full nor partial refunds can be issued from the dashboard or the API.

How are chargebacks handled?

A chargeback is raised by the cardholder's issuing bank through the card network. Moneybag has no self-service dispute flow and no way to upload evidence, so chargebacks are handled through Moneybag support. Keep your order, delivery, and customer-communication records so they can be produced quickly.
